About us

The Blackheath and Greenwich group was one of the first local Amnesty International groups to be set up - we've been going since 1974. There are over 60 members.

Our Group meets on two evenings every month:

Second Tuesday of every month in the crypt, St. Margaret’s Church, Lee Terrace, SE13 5EA at 8pm.

This is a meeting at which coordinators of the various campaigns give updates as provided by AI UK. We also plan future campaigning and fund-raising activities. At some meetings we have a speaker on some aspect of Amnesty’s work or on a related topic.

Access and transport: There is disabled access to the meeting room St Margarets.  The church is situated on Lee Terrace (map) and is on bus routes 54, 89 and 108. It is roughly equidistant from both Lewisham and Blackheath rail stations. There is some parking in the ground and in the surrounding area.

Fourth Tuesday of every month in the upstairs bar at Greenwich Picturehouse, Greenwich High Road, SE10.

This is a letter-writing evening when members bring copies of letters to be signed concerned with current campaigns. This also involves patrons of the cinema and members of the public.

Access and transport: The building has been designed to cater for a wide range of disabilities (details). Location and transport details can be found here.
